This cultural landmark and newest museum on the Mall faces due east toward the rising sun. Its architecture and activities are the culmination of a multiyear consultation with Native Americans. On the façade golden-toned Kasota limestone from Minnesota is molded into flowing curves in a stepped structure that includes deep window ledges. The surrounding landscape is dotted with grandfather rocks and incorporates wetlands, meadow and even a hardwood forest.
 
Dedicated exclusively to recognizing the contributions of women artists, of all periods and all nationalities.
 
Features Impressionist paintings, including Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party, paintings by Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, and Cezanne; and works by O'Keefe, Braque, Picasso, Matisse, Klee, and the American Impressionists.

Displays the world's largest collection of international espionage artifacts.
