DC Youth Advisory Council

“Youth Leading and Influencing Change in the District”
DCYAC Summer 2009 Internship Announcement
About the DC Youth Advisory Council (DCYAC):
In April 2002, legislation was signed into law establishing the District of Columbia Youth Advisory Council (DCYAC). Located within the Executive Office of the Mayor, the DCYAC was created by District youth and officials in order for young people throughout the city to have an official voice in the policies, programs and actions within the city. The DCYAC is responsible for influencing change in legislation and policies that impact youth and for developing more youth and adult partnerships. Through this work, the council will be influential in ensuring that decisions that affect young people have been carefully considered and incorporate their concerns and perspectives. The council will work to bridge the gap between adults and youth, fostering a greater sense of unity, communication and partnership throughout the city.
